It's got about 200K miles. They just got the engine rebuilt, new smog, new reg., new timing belt, they want $2k - this sounds a bit high. What say you? I drive 60 miles round trip 3-5 days a week, possibly more, it is worth it?

Oh okay, for a 25 yr old car $2000 is a bit too much. Even though the engine is newly rebuilt, you don’t get any guarantee that it was done correctly.

I’d rather get a Corolla or a Camry which was in decent condition for $2000.

If you’re set on that Accord, I wouldn’t pay more than $1300-$1500 tops. There’s just too much risk involved especially since you plan to use it as your daily driver. Too many things may potentially break, and fixing everything may exceed the value if the car.

Didn’t you negotiate the price of the job before you gave the go ahead for all the work?

Why is the price up for discussion now, after the repair is complete?

No, no, I didn't get the repairs, this is what the seller told me they did to the car. they want $2k for the car. is it a good deal or not? It's a family friend. I haven't touched the car.

I am thinking about buying the car. they say they want $2k for it due to the work they just put in.

I don't think it is a good car for you. You want a daily driving car to drive more than 11000 miles a year. Any 25 year old car with that mileage does not meet your needs. You should also consider that all the rubber and plastic parts will be broken and they are not cheap to fix/replace them besides that, you need to spend some time to either fix or take it to a mechanic, meaning that you do not have the car for those times.
