1996 Pontiac Grand Prix Driver Side Window

Hi! I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix. The Driver Side window has started to do something strange. When I push the power window switch button down it goes down (quickly) about 1/2 way then goes real slow then stops. If I try to push the window button up it does nothing. If I turn the car off, wait a minute, turn it back on the window will go up fast and close. I took the driver power window switch out(which also contains the passenger window switch) and it has a circuit board, etc. in the whole unit. The passenger window goes down and up perfect. I am trying to determine is it the switch or the motor/regulator. I have read some people say its the switch but its very expensive (like $60) to guess its that. Is there a way I can test/determine if its the switch or window motor? Doesn't seem like the window motor because if I turn it off and on it goes up or down (1/2) before it dies. Any help in determining if its the power window switch or motor would be great as I really don't want to take the door apart if I don't have too.

The only way to diagnose NOT the problem is to take door panel off and disconnect the window from the lift mechanism to see if the motor controls work when there is no weight attached to them. It may be the lift mechanism needs some lubricant or spray to free them up but this is all free labor with no money spent.

Listen to Dion and realize it may even be a bad regulator assembly sticking halfway
