Hello,

I've been looking at buying a used truck recently from private parties, need some advice on those 2 trucks :

1) 1997 Land cruiser prado TZ, 5VZ-FE 3.4 V6 engine 4x4 227 000 kms at 9000 usd

It has been well maintained, regular oils changes, frame in good shape good, no rust, i did a test drive it and was running as it should, truck looks new

Recently replaced radiator, spark/plugs and wires, front rotors

2) 2004 Nissan Pathfinder LE, V6 engine, 2.5 inch Lift 166 000 kms at 9000 usd

Havent checked the car yet but im about to

New oxygen sensor - New spark plugs - CV axle - New battery and alternator - Serpentine belt

Cons : Cracked windshield, TPMS sensor dead

Asking for advice because i'm not particularly inclined on car mechanics tho i understand that an old car will require good care and maintenance

Will mainly use it for everyday use up north in Canada for all kind of outdoor activities

Open to all kind of suggestions, other models i should be looking into ?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the answer, i'll have the radiator checked by a mechanic !

I wouldn't just check out the radiator, I would have it checked out thoroughly for any hidden issues.

If it were me, I would go with the Landcruiser. Even though it is older, it has a terrific engine, even if it does have a timing belt.

It won't be great on gas, but if you take care of it, it will hold it's value well, and get you anywhere you need to be.

There are still plenty of parts available for it as well, many toyota models used the same components like the 3rd gen 4Runner.

I would be careful of the recently replaced radiator. If it had the dreaded, but rare, pink milkshake issue in the coolant the transmission could be about to go. It is where the radiator leaks coolant into the transmission, and will cause the demise of the transmission in short order. Have it checked thoroughly by a good mechanic.

The nissan is not a bad suv, but they had some issues, engines included. I wouldn't pay 9k for it, maybe 5 or 6 at best.

It also is lifted, which means it will likely ride worse, and potentially break easier.
