Just picked up a 97 Tercel White Hawk, 1.5L 5 speed, 151,000 miles for $700. Are there any common issues that I should be on the lookout for?

Mostly you'll be looking at deterioration of components due to age. Those cars were not designed to last 26 years or more. However if it still runs OK for $700 it's hard to go wrong, just don't sink a lot of money into it.
