I have an additional odd ball question that may or may not be related to my starting problem, so bear with me.

I got into my 98 Silverado 5.7 this evening and it would not start.  We purchased it a month ago and it did the same thing at the dealership, but the dealer is a much older gentleman, and we were sure he was pumping the gas pedal tying to start it (which I know you do not do on this newer fuel injected vehicles.)   His mechanic came out and later got it running.  Ran as smooth as a top for well over 4 weeks.  It did seem to have a rough idle when sitting still and took a little bit of a trick to get it started every time.  (Turn the key and first let the fuel pump kick off and on, try to start it, turn off the key, wait another second, then try a second time and it woul fire.)  Earlier this week I changed all the spark plugs, as they were pretty well burnt. (I noticed some shaking from misfire, so decided it was time to check the plugs).  That fixed the misfire.

But at the end of this week as I stated, it will not start now.

I checked for good fuel pressure.  Its reading between 55 and 60.  It stays steady and does not bleed off.  So I'm assuming no fuel pump trouble.

I removed a plug and turned it over and the plug had spark.

I am kind of stumped.  If its getting fuel and there is spark at the number one plug, what is causing it not to want to start?  Note I did try the trick of unplugging the mass airflow sensor and it still did not start.  ( I read somewhere that you can get it to start by doing this, but it will either run rough or die since the computer would receive signals that the mass airflow sensor is unplugged.)

There are ZERO codes as of now and have been all week.  Previous codes were misfire on #5 and there was an airflow sensor code.  I cleaned the little sensor (not the mass airflow sensor) behind the mass airflow sensor and never did have a code come up again involving air intake.

AND NOW FOR THE ODDBALL question.

Two days prior to all of this, I took the truck to get it washed.  After the wash, for the first time, the ABS light came on.  I thought nothing of it and ignored it.  While I was fighting this evening trying to troubleshoot why my truck is not starting, I noticed one of the connectors (bottom left when you are looking at the ABS control module) was smoldering.  I touched it and it sparked and smoked.  I immediately unhooked the battery and then removed that connector.  It was pretty well burnt up.  (I AM NOT HAPPY about this at all.  Its bad enough I am having trouble getting the truck to start, but now this to.)  Would this short on the ABS have ANYTHING to do with keeping the truck from starting?  My instinct says no, but I am just a poor amature who works on his own vehicles to save money, so I have no idea.

Was hopping I could get some ideas from you all here on carkiller.  I love this site and so very much appreciate everyone's input!

More than likely going to take it back to the dealer, who has a mechanic there who works for him.  Sadly this was an as is used vehicle, but that's a risk you take buying old trucks.  If I could figure out why its not starting, and be satisfied getting it going myself, but another question is what does that connector for the ABS module do and what are the consequences of not fixing that?

Merry Christmas everyone in advance!  Thanks again!
