I bought this 98 4runner with 150k miles from craigslist. When i try to start it, it cranks and turns on then dies after a second. However, if i give it gas for a few seconds and it warms up, it will stay on and i can go anywhere without worrying. Any help appreciated. 😋

No codes nor lights on. Should i change the mass air flow sensor? or would that be a waste of 70 bucks
Why change a part that may or may not fix your problem. You need a scan tool to see how the MAF is working. You also need a voltmeter to check voltage on the sensor. Don’t throw parts at it that may not fix the issue. Did you check for vacuum leaks? You said the car runs ok when it warms up. Buy your self a can of brake cleaner and start your car get it to operating temp. Then spray around the intake and all vacuum hoses. If the idle drops when you spray a certain area you have a leak.
