I have a 2010 honda crv lx AWD. To my knowledge, the AWD only kicks on when my front two tires lose traction. I have 4 fairly brand new tires and I was wondering if I could buy 2 new studded tires for only the front of my car for when it is icy or very snowy out where I live. I was concerned that if the tread was much different than my back two tires it could mess with the transmission in my vehicle. I heard a while back that for Subaru's specifically that all 4 tires had to be very close in tread depth or else it could mess up the transmission. I didn't know if the same was true for Honda's.
I have a 2010 CRV. Yes please keep all the tires the same as far as diameter. Thats why they recommend regular rotations of tires on the AWD models.
I would keep all 4 tires the same.
