I absolutely love your work, Scotty! I envy the military community up there.. 😉

I bought a 2000 Toyota Tacoma prerunner sr5 from private party in 2013 with 96k miles. V6 engine, automatic. I got a great deal, but the transmission fluid was dark. It shifts a bit hard from 1st to second, and I often feel the downshift to first when I come off the brake at a stop light. My mechanic advised me when I first bought it not to change the fluid. I now have 186k miles, and the performance is the exact same, no worse. Did I get good advice? Should I consider replacing fluid/filter? The truck runs/looks awesome otherwise. It's my daily driver.

Thx, moe

I would change the filter and fluid and use Toyota fluid Toyota transmissions are different and often you can change them with high mileage and they don't have problems unlike American cars which will often slip if you change the fluid then
