Scotty, I have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe with 200,000 miles that I want to keep until the doors fall off. 5.3L v8. What should I do to make it last forever? I just changed all fluids and serviced the transmission with a new filter. Also, how do I disable the active cylinder management system, as you have suggested to do in other videos? Thanks

See our cylinder deactivation sticky under FAQ, and scroll down to the ‘Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC” section.  There is article and video of OBDII device from Range Technology.  Order from them directly to get the latest firmware (and also not get scammed with clones) - they have been used by the C7 Corvette and GM truck owners for many years and it has proven itself.

Other than that, stay on top of your engine oil and transmission fluid changes, don’t drive the vehicle aggressively, and check under hood periodically for leaks or any issues.  If you have a good scan tool, scan all the computer modules on board for faults (not all faults will show up under the Check Engine Light).  You can also look at the live data and see if the various parameters are within range or getting to borderline.

Nothing lasts forever. Good maintenance is all you can do.

Cylinder deactivation is covered in the FAQ. Always check there first.
