Just purchased a 01 Honda Accord automatic V6 for $2,900 with over 149,000 miles on the odometer, shifts good runs fine and has been taken care of properly since its first owner, but I am wondering how long can the transmission last with proper maintenance, I remember that these cars do have transmission issues if not taken care of properly.

No way to tell. The car is 22 years old and even if the transmission failed tomorrow, by any reasonable measure it would be considered to have given long and reliable service. About all you can do is check fluid condition, if it's clean you have a better shot at the thing lasting a while.
