2001 Ford Excursion 5.4L 192351 miles. The pipe between the muffler and the catalytic converter has a huge leak. Is this something that a person could replace without taking it to a shop. Basically from the cat to the exhaust pipe.?

Not really, you should have it cut out and have another piece welded in.
this would be the cheaper route without replacing all of it.....
