Need key programming for old Lexus

Hello Scotty, I hope you can help me? I have a 2001 ES300 Lexus, automatic transmission, with 195,000 miles. The previous owner said that the engine would spin over but not start. The key FOB was broken and it gives the code: B2795 not matched key code. I was assured by Key Shoppe that the condition would be solved by recoding another key. The new key and FOB operates all the doors including the trunk but won’t start the engine. My mechanic swears that only the dealership can program a new key! The Lexus dealer is telling me that because the vehicle is over 10 years old, they won’t work on it!

PLEASE HELP!!
Regards, David

Try this out it

This procedure is for programming key for 2001 Lexus.

1. Begin with the key out of the ignition.......
2. Open and unlock the drivers side door. Close all other doors including the trunk.
3. Insert the key into the ignition and PULL it out.
4. Locate the driver's side door lock/unlock switch.
5. Lock and unlock the switch 5 times..... Try to pace yourself to 1 second for each lock and unlock sequence. Lock and unlock ..... 1 time in 1 second)
6. Close and open the drivers side door.
7. Lock and unlock the switch 5 times. Try to pace yourself to 1 second for each lock and unlock  sequence. You will have 50 seconds to complete steps 7-10 ..... Lock and unlock 1 time in 1  second)
8. Insert the key into the ignition.
9. Switch the ignition to on then off twice....on is just shy of starting the car,.
10. Remove the key from the ignition.
11. The door locks will cycle (lock and unlock) to confirm successful entry into programming mode.
12. Push and release the lock and unlock button on the first remote you are programming at the  same tiem (does not matter which remote you program first)
13. As soon as you let go push and hold the lock button on the same remote for 2 seconds. The door locks will cycle to confirm successful programming of the remote.

Any locksmith with proper gear should be able to program the key. It might be the wrong key or they are  using the wrong programming

14. Repeat steps 12 and 13 for each additional remote you wish to program. If you have no additional remotes to program proceed to step 15.
15. Close the DRIVER'S side door. Programming is now complete.
(Scotty recommends that you should always keep a spare)

Programmed key like the instructions stated, still will not start. The vehicle is at my house so I don’t know if the code B2795 is still active. When turning the ignition to on, should I hear the fuel pump energize? I do hear a constant hum from the engine compartment, but not near the rear ( if that is where the fuel pump is located) of the vehicle by the fuel tank. Would starting fluid rule out the key not matched issue if it started with starting fluid? I haven’t tried that yet, but wanted your opinion first.

David

Have you tried a locksmith?

The fuel pump is under the back seat, so yes, you probably would have to "listen for it".

No. Your problem is likely this: the ECU isn't recognizing the key therefore the engine immobilizer 'thinks' you're trying to steal the car.

So what is the fix to my problem? How do I get the ECU to recognize that I’m not trying to steal the car?

Contact a locksmith who frequently does automotive work. Someone who has a high end scan tool for use in these situations.

Brought my vehicle to the Key Shoppe and they removed my ECM, “flashed” the ECM and restored my access. Vehicle starts and runs now and cost right at $400 which included two new keys!

Thanks for letting us know the good news! (Might be wise to avoid that dealership in the future, they're scum.)
