Hello Scotty and community,

We have a 2001 4d Nissan Sentra GXE 1.8L Automatic car. It was working fine until one day it didn't want to start. We tried to start it but it won't turn; just keeps on cranking without firing completely.  We towed it to a local shop and they mentioned it had a BHG. I checked the oil and coolant and nothing milky inside and even if it had a BHG, shouldn't I be able to start it still? If so, that seems to not work.

The car has been sitting in the garage for more than a year now with old gas and oil. We did run codes on it and said that the crankshaft position sensor was an issue. We replaced that. Changed coils and plugs but still no luck. It did have new batteries and even bought a new one. We did check pressure and it seemed pretty low. Fuel pump is active and I can hear that

Any ideas where to start again?

Oh man, 1 year just debating whether the car blew a head gasket, for what is a short test using a cheap head gasket test kit?

Watch Scotty’s video on how to tell if your head gasket is blowing.

Talk about wasting your time.

I watched the video where Scotty used a combustion test kit but my problem is the car won't even start. Even with a BHG, should I get the car to start anyways? I've seen a BHG before on my other car and it was still running and starting. I did order an ODB2 scanner which I'm getting tomorrow so I'll see if any different codes pop up.

I agree with Inthrustwetrust.

What do you mean by "testing pressure"? Fuel pressure?

@yaser
My buddy tested each spark plug hole by doing a compression test. I don't know what the readings were but he did mention it was low. But my thing is, even with a BHG, shouldn't I still be able to start and run the car?

Try start the car with starter fluid.
