I get a code P0442 EVAP system leak (.040) detected on my truck. It says change Evap canister purge valve. What's the chances of this fixing it? no effect on trucks drivability. thanks

You can test the purge valve using a hand held vacuum pump.

On yours you'd pull off the O ring and slide a hose over the intake manifold side of the purge valve and use a small hose clamp to tighten it.

Then pull a vacuum and watch to see if it holds vacuum (good) or loses vacuum (bad).

My matrix tossed that code and another evap code about six months ago. My lexus did some evap codes including P0442 about two months ago.

Both ended up being the gas cap. Might want to check it first.
