2002 Mercedes Benz SL500 R129 Silver Arrow with 48k miles and a 5 speed automatic paired with a 5.0 V8. The car has been garaged it’s entire life and will not start. Has not run since 2017 and when the key turns all electronics light up and work but nothing will turn over. There’s no clicking noise from the starter or anything just nothing happens. What could be the reason?

Battery in the key(fob)?
Dead main car battery?
Some custom immobilizer add-on you´re not aware of?

Have the battery load tested. It may have enough power for the lights but not near enough to turn the engine over. After all, it's 20 years old now.
