Hello,
I have a 2002 Subaru Forester L with about 168000 miles on it. Recently I have been having a cylinder 1 misfire (P0301). I changed the spark plug, and all the spark plug wires, and reset the ECU. Then I drove it around for a while gently to get the ECU to relearn. It ran fine for a bit, but now the flashing light has come back and the code is firing again. It shakes a lot at low rpms and once the engine is warmed up seems to idle at about 500-700 rpm, which seems slow to me. If it is relevent, I put a new MAP in last fall, as the old one failed and the car couldnt keep running after start. That worked with no problems for about 5 months before this misfire showed up.
Thank you
switch the coil on cylinder 1 with another cylinder and check to see if the misfire code will change or not. If it is changes, you got bad coil.
When you say switch the coil. Do you mean like swapping the wires from cylinder 1 and 2 or so?
i Mean the ignition coil.
The Subaru only has one ignition coil, with all 4 spark plug wires coming out of it. I guess I am confused how I can test just one. Cause if move cylinder 1's wire to the port for 2 and 2 to 1, wont it mess up the timing of the ignition?
Switch number 1 with 4.
