Hey, I'm looking at this 2003-2004 GMC Sierra with 200,000 miles on it for $3,000. Test drove it and it ride nice and everything, only thing so far I see wrong is the gas meter doesn't move from E. Could this be a decent truck to buy that'll last a while?

1500, 2500, 3500... ?

1500

Do you want to daily drive or or it is a weekend toy?

well that's a tired truck. Lots of miles for a 1/2 ton. The remaining life will depend on how it was driven and maintained. If the tranny is original, it's going to give you trouble soon.

If you can afford it, get a newer, lower mileage truck If not, I guess it will tie you over. Just make sure it doesn't have serious rust, and to have a very thorough mechanical inspection done so you don't end up with a moneypit clunker.

If the frame is looking clean and it has a fair interior, that's a good price on that truck.

I would get it inspected by a mechanic to make sure the engine, tranny, and other things are in good enough condition for the money.

Which engine does it have?

Before handing over the cash

Get it checked by the mechanic first okay

See what mechanic says

Check chassis for rust and corrosion

Look at maintenance history

If your buying as an daily driving it doesn't have alot of life left so I won't recommending spending huge fortune on it.

Also don't do heavy loading with it suspension might break down.

If it the only option you have I say drive it as long as it last possible try increasing the amount and look for another and bit newer pickup
