Hey Scotty! I have a 2003 Ford Focus (mk1) with a standard transmission. 158,000 miles. Zetec engine 2.0l. How long do these cars last? I have read that If taken care of they can be very reliable

The weak point of those cars is automatic transmission and you do have a manual instead. About the engine, it is not the best, but if you take care of almost any engine, it can last.

We had a 2002 with manual transmission. It was ok. We took care of it, but eventually started to go downhill. Our friend's husband who's a mechanic, calls them "throw away cars". Engine was terrible @ 130k miles started to become a money pit and so glad we go rid of it.
