2003 Honda CR-V O2 sensor disconnected for 2 years - any damage?

hello, thank you for taking the time to read and answer my questions.

to start, I will give a little background:

just shy of 2 years ago my catalytic converter was stolen off my 2003 Honda CR-V (extremely common target for catalytic converter theft). This ended up being covered by insurance thankfully, with no check engine light or any issues that I knew of.

Fast forward to present, I bought a brand new OBD2 sensor and decided to test it out on the CR-V. It runs a code for both my bank 1 and bank 2 O2 sensors being faulty. knowing this, I jacked up my vehicle to discover that the O2 sensors that were supposed to be connected to my catalytic converter were nowhere to be found. Worse, the catalytic converter that was used to replace my old one is a universal make, meaning that my O2 sensors do not have a spot to be plugged into the cat I have on my vehicle.

I have a few questions:

could this have caused any damage to my vehicle/engine over the course of these past 2 years?

is it worth it to buy the proper cat converter for my make and model, as well as new O2 sensors?

why did my check engine light not turn on? The light is not burnt out so I am completely puzzled….

As someone who obsesses over meticulous maintenance this is very infuriating for me. Are there any underlying problems with my Honda that I have to look forward to thanks to this?

once again thanks for taking the time to read over my questions. I am quite disappointed with the dodgy work completed by my insurance.

Well if your check engine light never came on and you removed that stuff that's really wacky because it should have made the computer trip of various codes. I would assume your computer is faulty or your wiring is faulty. It would have to have trip codes. But I mean if the thing ran okay that way here in Tennessee they don't do any emissions testing and people often remove everything and they run perfectly fine. Realize the catalytic converter system is only an anti-pollution system. Does nothing else. It serves no other purpose and they will run better without them
