2003 Subaru baja 2.5 automatic trans. has a code p0731 and the dash flashes the a/t oil temp light on dash, shifts hard. could it be shift solenoids sticking or trans control solenoid or tcm? a mechanic told us that it was trans wiring harness. my 88 year old mother -in-law is stuck without that vehicle. (yes she still drives) p.s, this is in California, if that makes a difference
It could be the solenoids. Also, what is the mileage and when is the last time you changed the transmission fluid and filter?

approx 100,000 miles, and I don't think she has ever had it changed. the fluid is still pink not burnt.
why would a/t oil temp be flashing when vehicle is cold
Take the car to a transmission shop to check it.
