Hey So I’ve got a 2003 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder. 236,000 miles going strong, original everything, A/C blows ice cold, sunroof never had a problem. It does Burn some oil but I drive for a living and as you say “oil is cheap but engines are not!”… Ok, my transmission has a little issue, when I’m cruising at any speed, and I take my foot off the gas, it shudders just a bit and the rpm drops and then comes back up to normal. Again, it’s only when I’m just keeping speed and I slowly take my foot off the pedal. but it shifts really smooth when I’m accelerating, it doesn’t lurch or hesitate hardly at all. I do have a suspicion, I have a habit of taking my foot off the gas quickly, and not easing off. But I’m not a mechanic so I don’t know!
Start with cleaning the MAF sensor and throttle body.
Ok I’ll start there! Thanks
If you notice it more on the highway, you could just be feeling the torque converter lockup letting go. Usually when you're in overdrive on 4 speed cars, the torque converter will lock up with the input shaft to the transmission to save gas. It feels like a gear shift when it locks up and releases. It releases when your foot comes off the gas.
You know, I do feel it on the highway a bit more often than at lower speeds. But I do still feel it when I’m going 35. The worst is when I’m going down a hill and I’m still on the gas just a bit, man it’ll shake. Thanks though!
- I feel this too on my 2003 rav4 manual transmission. Engine is 1AZ-FE {black}:blushed:
