2003 Toyota Sequoia worth fixing?

Hey!

I've got a 2003 Toyota Sequoia SR5 (196,000 miles, RWD). I've had it for about 8 months and bought it for $4,000 or so, and since I bought it I've put about $3,000 into it for repairs. Now, the ABS system, catalytic converter, and several other systems are bad. It's hard to tell which other ones are bad since the previous owner completely messed up the electrical system in it. Is it worth putting a bunch more money into fixing it, or would it be a better idea to buy a new car and slowly fix this Sequoia over time? I do some off-roading in it, but the registration is going to be up soon, so I need to get it inspected. I live in California, so you know how bad the emission inspection is here. I love the truck, but I feel like it's turning into a money pit. The old owner took awful care of it, but I only started learning more about cars after I bought it, so I only realized a short time ago.

Let me know if you need more info about it. There are some codes, but those are the general problems. I can always provide specific codes.

Thanks!!

It seems that to much money is needed to get the vehicle right. I  would move on.

Yeah... I had a feeling. I wanted to get more opinions before I made a final decision. I'm just gonna keep it as a project car/off road vehicle for now. Thanks!

I'm no expert, but If you already put $7K into the car, I wouldn't keep it as a project vehicle unless you just enjoy spending money. I'd call this a loss and junk it.

Well, I wouldn’t fix it and keep it as a daily driver. But, … as a project car? Perhaps, … you own it now! You can just park it and learn what’s actually wrong with it, what needs to be fixed, … and what can be left alone. Maybe, … just maybe, you can fix it yourself? And at not much of a cost? Learn some new stuff in the process? Dunno, … your call.

Yeah that's what I'm hoping to do. I still have some time on my registration, so I'm gonna keep it until then, then I'm gonna just buy a new car and keep the Sequoia as a project/off road vehicle. Thanks!
