I have a 2003 vw golf (manual) That is not cranking or really doing anything when I turn the key( there is also no click when I turn key). The battery works, I have a feeling that it is something to do with the starter Like a relay or fuse but don't know where to start.
Well it's pretty easy to hotwire a starter you said positive electricity to the solenoid you can use a jumper cable from the positive terminal of the battery to the terminal on the starter and if you touch it on the ignition terminal of the starter it should crank over if it doesn't crank over then either the starter is bad or your engine is locked up. To see if the engine is locked up in a long extension bar 3 ft and a socket put it on the middle of the engine where the fan belts are on the crank and try to spend it over 360 degrees if you can't the engine is locked up
