Hello again,
I've own a 2004 e85 BMW z4 with a 5 speed manual transmission and when I bought it at 82k miles, the dealer didn't turn over any service records for the car. Fast forward about two years and 43k miles and I'm wondering if, since I don't have any records of the last time any fluid other than the oil was changed, should I change the transmission fluid and the differential fluid while I'm at it? I figure after 43K miles of driving that maybe it's time to give those fluids a change. I change the oil every 15K miles as the manufacturer suggests, and I don't see any issues at all, the car does burn a small amount of oil, but not enough to make it fail it's smog checks. Again, just looking for a second opinion, appreciate all the help.
I would change both. Since you have manual transmission, you don’t need to worry about the transmission slip issue.
About the engine oil, do not listen to the at manufacturer, change it every 5k miles, as Scotty always says: oil is cheap, engine is expensive. You don’t want to ruin your engine only for late oil change.
