Hi,
I recently acquired a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria LX (non-police) with 54,000 miles. This car was partly stripped and left to die outside under a tree. I have the car up and running and cleaned up. It is a great car overall.
When accelerating slowly at various time I will feel a rumble strip type sensation. If I let off the gas it goes away. It is not consistent at what speed it happens or even if it happens all the time. If I give the car the beans, I can get to highway speeds smooth with no issues. It only happens when driving the car easy. I have felt it at ~30 mph and even around ~45 mph but can't always reproduce it.
Any ideas?
Torque converter shudder feels exactly like that.
Scan for any codes.
Does it match closely to a misfire or transmission slipping?
My idea of rumble strips is ‘violent vertical movement’. What’s yours?
