backfires and won't go more than 30 or 40 mph.
mileage is over 240000

well definitely number three cylinders must find check that first see if a coil is gone bad and also the best thing to do is to do a compression test of the cylinders on that side and if you find number three is much much lower than the others the engine is just shot it's going to need rebuilding or replacing
