Hey Scotty, I have a 2017 Hundai Elantra with 85,000 miles, automatic. We get code P030. Took it to the dealer since it's under warranty. Two coild have already been replaced on cylinder number 2 under warranty about two years ago. I was shocked when they wanted to charge approximately $650 bucks this time to change spark plugs and clean the fuel injectors. Why not just swap the coils to check? I don't understand why we should pay them to TRY and fix a problem that is easily checked! Anyway I am definitely going to show them this post and video if you ever see this question and put it in a video. Thanks Scotty!

We get code P030.

that's not a valid code. There should be 4 numbers.

Please find the correct code, look it up on obd-codes.com, and let us know the full definition of it.

You can also check if it's covered in our FAQ.

Thanks.

P0303 Cylinder number 3 misfire *Update* I spoke with the service advisor who told me they swapped coils and the problem did not follow. I checked under the beauty cover and noticed the coil packs had NEVER been touched. After watching Scotty long enough I knew that was the very first thing to check. You're a lifesaver Scotty. Now we know they are trying to rip us off.

Out of curiosity, how did you know they didn't touch it?
If it were me, I would switch it and test it, if it fixes it, switch it back. I would get with the manager and call them out, but don't tell them you switched it for fear they may void your warranty or something stupid.
If they lied about it, I would write a google review warning others, as well as every place I could put a review, I hate seeing them doing that kind of stuff to people!

When I pulled the cover, the coils were very dirty. If you touched them then it would knock the dirt loose exposing the black plastic underneath. I can't prove it now since I touched on of the coils, but I'm telling you guys they never touched them. And the service advisor lied to me about it, and the tech lied about it.
