Hi, Scotty. I travel extensively in a 2019 Honda Insight. I bought the car used around 3 years ago with low mileage, but now it’s up to 152k. It’s the 3rd Honda hybrid I’ve owned and I’ve gotten over 300k miles out of the other 2 (Civic hybrids) before they were totaled (2007, 350k) or the transmission went out (2014, 330k). I’ve never really done anything to them except have the oil changed and engine serviced about every 5-7k miles.
With this 2019, I have a big mystery. It has started idling extremely rough. I mean, like the engine might shake off its mounts if that’s possible, and when it does this, the check engine light will blink and the car will enter “limp mode”. The only code ever thrown was a P0303 cyl. 3 misfire. It’s only ever done this when the car was first started in the morning. Now here is the mystery. Every time this has happened (about 4 times now) I’ve shut off the car, opened and closed the door and restarted it only for the car to idle and run as it always has with no check engine light flashing or even steady on. And from there, I’ve driven 5-600 miles and it perform as good as new. The gas mileage has never underperformed or anything
The first time it happened, I changed all 4 spark plugs. My next logical step would be to change the coils. What I don’t understand, though, is if it were really a serious problem with the fuel mix, ignition system, etc. is why on earth it would go away when I reboot the car.
I love your channel and would certainly appreciate and trust any advice you might have for me. I am hoping to avoid an expensive trip to a Honda dealership. God bless.

Actually the next logical step would be to analyze the data rather than blindly throwing parts at the problem. There should be freeze frame data recorded when the P303 comes up. Also you could record the data stream when the problem happens for later analysis.
