I have a 2005 4Runner V8 4x4 with 147,000 miles. For over a year, the car has made a knocking noise upon a cold startup on the driver’s side, near the wheel well. It normally only does it for a few seconds, but has lasted about a minute at most and goes away by the time I exit my neighborhood. It’s not an every-time thing, but about 50% of the time when the vehicle is started. There hasn’t been any noticeable power loss with the vehicle and it still drives as it always has. Could it just be something loose in the engine bay, or a bigger issue?

We'll make a video and put it on YouTube and I'll watch it. Unfortunately it is often rod knock meaning that the bearings are going out on that side for one of the Piston rods though
