Do you know if there is a way to adjust the timing on a 2005 Ford f250 super duty diesel? I am looking at a truck being sold by a private seller and they are saying that the truck will not run because it needs to be timed. It has 232,000 miles, and he is asking $3000 for it.
Well that's a real time by computers. If the timing is that far off, the engine is going to need to be rebuilt with new timing chains and all that stuff. I would not touch it if it doesn't run right
It's usually not a very good idea to buy someone else's headache
Never buy any non running vehicle because you have no idea what shape is the engine internally and you can't trust what seller has to say, who knows if they're telling the truth or not. If it cranks, try to take the compression test in all the cylinders and confirm if it has compression, if there's no compression due to valves being bent from timing went off, run away as fast you can.
Agree with all the above. Also, I believe the 2005 has the 6.0 Powerstroke, which is not something you want to be stuck with. An endless money pit, as someone around here likes to say.
now if it had the older 7.3 diesel, it might be worth a risk...
