2005 Honda Accord 5th. Cylinder Misfire

Okay this is a long story.

I own a 2005 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L and my first problem occurred last year when my timing chain broke off. It's fixed, but recently my car has gotten way worse. I was on my way to my girlfriend's house when i was at a stop light and my car just starting shaking so much and the check engine light was flashing. When I got it coded, it said 5th cylinder misfire and I changed the sparkplugs in November. That's what my mechanic told me. So I did and the vibrations kept coming back and the car sounded like it wanted to turn off. At that point I was told so many different things. I was told it was either

  • Engine mounts are loose (vibrations)
  • Bad timing belt (squealing)
  • Bad cylinders & pistons (knocking)
  • etc.

Recently my car has gotten wayyyyyy worse and then a new code popped up. It was bank 2 converter below threshold. My catalyst converter was out. I felt the exhaust and no smoke or smog was coming out so I added some fuel injector cleaner and it only got worse. The vibrations was getting super heavy and two times my car stalled. When I went to get a new catalyst converter white smoke was coming out like crazy. Two days ago I was looked at my spark plugs and the 5th one had gas on it. When I got a new spark plug, the car hesitations went away but not the smoke, knocking, and vibrations. Then I got a new oil change and we saw metal inside. It was oil with a glossy look to it and a light brown mix. Kinda like chocolate milk. Nothings changed. I don't know what to do and I'm having to be picked up from my girlfriend everyday and I'm becoming more and more stressed as these days come. I want to blow up my car. I hate it.

I’m sad to say that the timing belt snapping may be the root cause of all that is going on. TMK, Honda builds interference engines for this generation, so when a timing belt snaps, it can cause damage to the engine. I hope I am wrong on this, and there may be a import answer. Let’s see what other have to say.
