I have a 2005 Lincoln Aviator, 182,000 miles, automatic. Nice ride. Very well maintained (always filters, oil changes etc), and other things are new (radiator, front struts etc), but not engine or transmission (it's all good).

Last year, I put in $5000 to fix stuff, so all that is good. Now it needs the timing chains set, lower intermediate driving shaft, and power steering hose replaced; repair cost: $3000-4200. Is it still worth it to pay this much to fix it? Is it normal to have to replace these things in a 2005 vehicle? How much longer will this one run?

The money you put in the car for fixing it, is higher that what the car worth. You decide what you want to do.
