I have a 2017 Honda Accord v6, automatic with 37,000 miles, I noticed that when the engine warms up there is a ticking sound.
I shut the car off and start it back up and after about 30 seconds to a minute, it returns.
How concerned should I be?
What did you find out about it?
Take it to the dealership if warranty is still not expired. If the ticking goes away, they may say "this is normal". Still good to have this documented.
Could be a tappet ( lifter) is it comming from the top end under valve covers but a tick could be anything faulty bearing in fans waterpump try listening to where its making noise see if theres any thing loose even yhe injectors on some car tick as they open and close but only slightley
The 2017 does not GDI. Did you check the oil level?
It is very very rare that these engines need the valves adjusted at this early mileage, but I did see a few that did need an adjustment a very early mileage.
I was told by someone that it is normal and this was because of the GDI fuel system on the 2017, I can hear it around the top right side of the engine
That is not correct.. the v6 3.5 is not gdi
Thats the purge valve for the evap system.. the noise comes from the top right.. really close to the throttle body..
