Should I buy this used Avalon

Hey Scotty, I am considering buying a 2005 Toyota Avalon with 250,000 miles on it from a retired mechanic that flips cars I know for $2800. I test-drove it and it did not have any issues besides the AC not working. The guy I am buying it from says that he tested the AC system and that it's the air conditioning evaporator that is leaking, do you know how hard or how much it would be to repair it? Do you think it is a good price for this car? I am a college student and am hoping to make the car last at least 3 more years, is it doable? Any common problems with this car I need to look out for?

Not sure on that model but on most cars the dashboard has to be disassembled or even come out to get at the evaporator. Many hours of labor, likely $1000 or more. (If it was an easy job the seller would have already done it and asked more for the car.)

Sounds like a lot for an 18-year-old car that has driven the equivalent of a trip to the moon, but the market is still crazy. You'd need to have your own mechanic check it out before purchase.
