Hello, a few months ago one of the hoses of my 2005 Toyota Corolla (280,000 miles) broke, the engine overheated and I had to replace the VVT solenoid. After that every time I start the engine and hit the gas, I feel like the transmission is slipping and only after I get over 3000 RPM the car starts to respond and then runs fine until I stop using it for a few days. I took it to a transmission specialist, and transmission work or replacement is really expensive. He told me that even replacing the transmission fluid could be more problematic than leaving it like it. Is there something I can do to fix this?
If you want to keep the car, you'd have to replace the transmission entirely. I personally would not spend the money replacing it. Junk the car and move on to something else.
