2006-2011 Toyota Camrys

More than once, I've seen others suggest you should avoid 2006-2011 4 cylinder Camrys. I'm aware of the problems with the 2AZ-FE engine and oil consumption. But my understanding is that only applies to 2007-2009 Camrys because the 2AZ was replaced with the 2AR in 2010. Was there still an oil consumption problem with 2010-2011 models, or is there some other reason to avoid those two year models?

Sorry, I mislabeled this as 2006-2011. Should have been 2007-2011.

According to this Site: Carcomplaints.com the Camry oil consumption problem did not taper off until 2013 but from 2014 on the car is still plagued with trans and engine problems. Go check the site and see what I mean.

Interesting data. Here are the numbers of complaints by year for excess oil consumption:

2009 219
2010 38
2011 11
2012 6
2013 1

So it looks like it was much improved in 2010, but not completely eradicated then.

Were they still installing some 2AZ engines in 2010?

It's correct they didn't taper off until 2013 so I wouldn't buy any of those models before or after is fine though.or a v6 engine one which didn't have that problem they were different engines with different piston rings
