Hello Scotty Community!
My 2007 Nissan Sentra with a CVT & 140,000 , only when it’s cold 35 *F and its the first time starting the car, when driving the RPM is a little higher around 2000 to 2500 when accelerating, but once it warms up goes down to the rpm around 1200 to 1800. Other than that vehicle drives good.
It may be as simply letting the vehicle warm up longer but I would be grateful for any advice to help improve winter performance. Been using Nissans conventional oil for the entire life of the vehicle, perhaps changing to synthetic oil?
Thanks in advance,
Best,
Morgan
Change the transmission fluid it you haven't already.
Simple drain and fill. No flushing.
Those transmission are terrible in cold weather and do far better when warmed up.
Thank you for the feedback! Yeah probably just typical Jatco
I have the same car. The fluid change really helped. Wish I knew earlier.
Used Idemitsu NS-2 fluid once. And Castrol Transmax CVT the last time. Both worked well.
Thanks for the tip!
Sure switch to the synthetic oil but realize with that mileage things are going to break especially transmission wise they're pretty poorly made jetco transmissions
Thanks Scotty I appreciate it ! Would Castrol Edge high mileage be a good option?
My brothers MINI with CVT does the same thing. He has 170k and I told him its get'tin ready to blow! Acts weird at other times too!
Man the engine is holding on to dear life and on its last legs, appreciate the comments!
