Air suspension problem

I have a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis LS automatic with 60,107 original miles on it. I just had to replace the rear air bags/blown. Here's my standing problem.... While the air bags were blown the compressor kept kicking on to fill them and they would fill up and then leak out and repeat... I bought new air bags!  Ok, the day before I brought the car to my mechanic I shout off the air compressor switch in the trunk so the bags wouldn't fill up and need to be drained (shaved the mechanic a step-time). The new bags were put in and the mechanic took it for a short ride to which he said the compressor kicked on but it doesn't have the strength to fill up the new bags. But the compressor did kick on for the mechanic!!!  I took the car home and on the way the compressor came on 4-5 times but failed to fill the new air bags.

So I bought a BRAND NEW compressor (from AutoBuffy-"Top Choice" air compressor). I put it in (not that difficult/pretty easy), flicked on the switch in the trunk and NOTHING. The new compressor would not come on.... Baffled! I took it out and reinstalled it and the same thing. I brought it back to the mechanic and now they are saying it's an electrical problem. Here's my dilemma, IF the system was working with an old, on its way out compressor that was filling up the blown air bags, WHY THEN is it not working with new air bags and new compressor? The only thing that is different is everything is new...  PLEASE help me because this doesn't make any sense. Oh, I changed the air compressor rely and associated fuses just to eliminate that possibility.

Please help, Paul Pellegrini III

I find when you buy aftermarket parts you have no idea if they're going to work with the way the car was designed. Especially if the Chinese made stuff. I mean let's face the facts if they were coming on but they wouldn't fill them up with the old ones and now they don't even come on. I would say there's the definite problem with The bags you got. But realized it's a pretty fancy systems. You really better off with a guy like me who has a scan tool that can activate and do bi-directional testing of the system to find out exactly what's wrong

Thank You very much Scotty for both your answer and your time.... FYI, all the parts I purchased were Made In America..... So they were advertised. "Top Choice" is the name of the air suspension pump manufacture and the air bags I bought from A1 Auto and they're TRQ product. So they are from reputable companies. Do the ride sensors tell the air pump when to kick on and off? Could they be the problem because the air compressor doesn't consistently come on like it should with the air bags empty like they are.
I bought a conversion kit from Strutmasters but I want to rule out something that might be sooooo simple.
Unfortunately Scotty, I live in South Florida and to get to you is a little bit of a drive HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA But I do appreciate everything you do for the general public..... Much continued good health......
