2006 Lexus GS300 AWD how do get rid of Oxygen sensor fault

Hi,

All of a sudden, 4 months ago, the CEL came on, along with the brake light and CHECK VSC message. After some research I understood the VSC warning just comes on whenever the check engine light is on, and the thing to focus on is the engine trouble code, which is P0057 (rear left oxygen sensor heater circuit problem). I replaced the sensor, which took about 6 hours because of the plug being under the carpet inside. The sensor cost a fortune (OEM Toyota), but add the labor, it is still even worse, this is why I decided to do it myself. At first, the code went away, but it came back next morning, and it won't disappear.

My car has 100,000 miles. The problem appeared at 94,000 miles. No smoke, nor weird engine behavior or noises, nor abnormal fuel consumption.

I've reset the ECU, cleared the codes with my BlueDriver and Techstream, in vain. I don't know what to do since then, but as Scotty opened this website and is the wisest and simply the best mechanic on Earth, I'm throwing a bottle to the sea.

Thank you

Hey,

I just wanted to say that the problem is solved. The dealership diagnosed a bad sensor, again. I doubted about it because I replaced it but I decided to trust them and take the chance that it could work because replacing an ECU or doing whatever more important work would be horrendously expensive. It worked, I just had a bad replacement part.

Glad the orange color no longer shows up, finally!
