Is it worth repairing these driveline leaks

Hello Scotty,

We recently purchased a 2006 Lexus IS250 with 177,000 miles automatic AWD, purchased from private seller. We found out right after we bought the car the rear axles are leaking and front diff input shaft leaking. The Lexus dealership quoted a price to fix at $3500.00, is it worth getting the car fixed? I'm concerned we are going to put to much into the car. We would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you

Get a quote from a good independent mechanic who will likely be able to do the work at lower cost. Stay away from dealerships and chain shops.

The repairs you indicated are not considered difficult or that expensive in terms of parts and labor.  I would take @chucktobias recommendation and find and independent mechanic to have the work performed properly and for far less than the $3500 dealer quote.

how much?

Do you have a photo?

How much for what?

how badly is it leaking

We can’t see the leak our self. The dealership reported and gave the estimate to fix. My husband did see some possible grease on the gas tank. We are not noticing any leaks on the ground, no leak spots being visible on the ground(concrete). The dealership report and estimate came from a receipt from the previous owner. The previous owner did not realize this paperwork was still in the car, we found the estimate from the dealership in the car after we purchased.

ok if it's not dripping then there's no panic. Just make sure fluids stay topped up.
Ask all your friends to recommend a good mechanic and then go get a quote from him.

Thank you so much

We are now hearing a noise front passenger side, around the tire area, going really slow not pressing the brakes, a clinging metal noise. Any ideas what this possible could be?
