2006 Toyota Avalon PO531, changed coil twice

I have a 2006 Toyota Avalon with 240,000 miles. I had all 6 coils changed, but the PO351 code is still on. I had coil 1 changed again but we didn't change the spark plug and wires. The code is still on and of course, it idles once I hit 40mph.  Should I take it to the shop to have the coil replaced for the 3rd time? This is what a local mechanic said, "it is an injection problem or a mechanical, but it's a gamble to fix so get rid of it!"

You have already explored the replace coil pack scenario situation as well as replace spark plugs/wires . now it becomes more technical and precise. The next order is to see if the wires leading to the coil are of correct value and also not resisted in any way. Also their is a possibility that if those wires are okay the ECM - the computer that controls the spark has a bad driver in #1.  If so the ECM can be repaired or just replaced. But this seems to be the only remaining options as all the usual avenues have been explored.

Also their is also a possibility that the #1 injector is also not spraying as it should - that avenue should also be considered...

I'm going to have a mechanic check this issue., Since this is the only thing that haven't been checked.. thanks a bundle

FWIW, I wouldn't go to Midas with ignition issues. Go to your local NAPA store and find someone who has worked there for years. Ask which local mechanic is the best with electrical and ignition problems. Good luck.

By this time its apparent that the coils are not the problem so you must investigate what the circuit malfaunction is:

Potential causes of a P0351 code include: Short to voltage or ground on COP driver circuit Open on COP driver circuit Loose connection at coil or broken connector locks Bad Coil (COP) Faulty Powertrain Control Module

Thank you! The coil pack was bought from Amazon. Does this matter? Coil 2-6 are great. I had coil #1 changed again we used another Amazon coil...I took my car to Toyota to have the battery replaced...I thought it would be an easy way to have them give me a diagnostic on the code. They suggested changing the #1 coil. They didn't know that I already changed it twice. They recommended buying a new car. So I'm going to Midas, should I just let them know that the coil was changed twice? Or let them use a more expensive coil

Change the spark plug wires too. Ir is a 15 year old car and those wires were probably never changed.

Thank you! I've had the spark plugs changed. I'm not sure if the plugs were changed. Ok I'll mention this to the local shop
