Scotty,
A couple of years ago I bought this vehicle from a friend who had owned it for all but 20K of the miles on the truck It had 249K when I bought it, but I felt confident because I knew how much she loved her truck and that it was probably well maintained. She had a lot of service records and regularly changed oil, etc. Naturally, I had some major things updated to bring it up to what I felt was a better condition, and I found a terrific mechanic in my neighborhood who I believe is very honest and straightforward. We did the timing belt package, the serpentine belt package, the carrier shaft, lower ball joints, struts & shocks, serviced transmission (which helped downshifting at stops tremendously) and replaced some of those lines. New tires, new radiator. A lot!
Now, I would like to go road-tripping (I'm retired and have the time), and I want to insure as much as possible that the truck is road worthy to pull a small travel trailer. I've already driven it from south Florida to Texas and back twice, and "she" runs strong, has proven very reliable, and is very comfortable. What types of services would you suggest to have inspected or serviced before I embark on a long trip, keeping in mind that I may be towing a small trailer of 4,000 lbs +/-? I believe the truck may already have a tow package because there is a small "cooler" attached to the radiator.
Thanks in advance! I really appreciate you experience and your feedback. Love your videos!
That's awesome for a tundra my grandson's friend has a tundra and he told over 20,000 pounds of half inch iron plate.
