SCOTTY,
I have a 2007 Avalon with 180k miles. The high brake light works intermittently. I usually have to bang it for it to start working. It'l work for a while before it either dims or stops working entirely. Is this a brake switch issue or a bad light. I know the wire has power and ground leading up to it. In fact, when I had to get the car scanned at an Autozone, it showed that my brake switch was bad, but the other brake lights work fine.
Thanks for your help!

. I usually have to bang it
bang what? The light fixture? Then there's a bad connection in it.

Clean the light bulb socket first and check again. A single brake switch tends to satisfy all brake lamps.
