Hello,
I recently got a used 2007 Lexus RX350, with 150k miles.
It runs great, but now it is time to change the oil.
Looking at the maintenance records, I noticed that it was mostly 5w30 oil (as the maintenance manual says), but recently, before I bought the car, they have put 0w20.
Looking at forums, many say that it should be 0w20, and Toyota is now using 0w20, so I am a bit confused.
What would be the best way to proceed?
My main goal is the longevity of the vehicle.
Another aspect is the gas: the manual says premium, but, if I understand correctly, premium used to be 91 octane, while now it is 93.
And again reading around on forums, people say regular is fine, others say it should not be above 91 octane otherwise it might hurt the engine etc.
What's the best way to proceed?
Gas costs are low these days, so it is more to ensure the longest life to the car.
Thank you in advance for the advice. I wish you all a good weekend.
Stick to the car manual in terms of maintenance.
Regarding the gas, you can use gas with any octane (87,...)
Use the oil and fuel the owners manual says to use.
Thank you for the advice 🙂
