Hi, I have a 2007 Nissan Maxima with 108k miles. I bought it back in March with 104k miles. I decided to check the CVT fluid back in July and noticed it was a little low. I didn't notice any grinding or shifting problems and it still works fine. I checked yesterday because I noticed it took around 5 seconds to shift from park to drive or reverse etc. But no shifting or weird noises coming from the engine/transmission. The CVT fluid was extremely low and I was surprised I didn't have any problems. I checked when engine was hot and on a level surface and went through all the gears before I checked. Fluid wasn't dirty as well. I checked under the car and didn't see any leaks. I'm so confused where the fluid is going because I know it's not burning but I don't see any major leaks or drops anywhere. Please Help!
I have the same car and have changed the cvt fluid by drainning and filling it at 70k miles
Perhaps the person didn't fill it up all the way not sure.
If you end up filling it up make sure its the nissan cvt fluid that it says in the manual don't use anything other than that these transmissions are weak and need to be taken care of.
You could check the transmission drain plug also its a hex key style plug near the engine on the right side I think.
check for leaks around there.
I have the same car though 2007 maxima I hope everything turns out fine.
