I bought a 2008 dodge 1500 5.7 v8 hemi it has 288,541 miles on and has an automatic transmission. I have lean codes for bank 1 and bank 2 I was told it was a vacuum leak. Well I checked no vacuum leak. The truck runs fine unless you get on it around 50-60 mph. At which the truck acts like its getting little fuel still runs just sluggish. When I start the truck while the engine is cold it acts like it's not getting fuel then starts really rough but as the engine starts the hemi tick goes away and is quiet. I also noticed when I changed the oil myself it ran better and was quieter than when a shop changed which makes me wonder if the shops put the wrong oil in it. Will this damage the engine and is my fuel pump going out or are there bad injectors in it. I don't know where to begin please help me I am lost and can't afford to keep dumping money into trying to fix my issues.

It’s like Scotty says always always start simple and work up from there, check the whole fuel system, spark plugs been changed recently? That is a high mileage HEMI, and a Chrysler product. The use of cheap parts is standard operating procedures for that company.

Remember, the HEMI has 16 spark plugs and it is vital those are replaced on time. Take a couple out and check to see what they look like. Also check fuel delivery system like filter, pump etc.

I will do that I really appreciate the help a shop just to diagnose it wanted $100 and to install new pump they wanted $1,000.

Change the fuel filter and then pressure test the fuel pump.

To change the filter I have to change the pump.

Which codes specifically are you getting - Can you list them?
