2008 Dodge Avenger SE 2.4L 202000 miles
I just recently bought all the parts to replace my breaks but, when I took everything off the pads and rotors were still in great shape. The pads had around 70% on them still. I cleaned and greased everything and replaced the warn out rubber parts. After doing all that I am still having a lot of noise when I break. It sounds like the pads are completely gone and digging into the rotors but, there not. Any ideas what else could be causing this noise?
I have a second issue as well.
I just recently replaced all the motor mounts on the Avenger because every time I would shift into any gear from park and if I let off the throttle while driving and then get on it again there was a loud clunk. A friend and I investigated and found all the mounts were shot. Now after replacing all of them the clunk is not so bad shifting but, it is still there when letting off the throttle driving. Any ideas?
what kind of a noise? Have you checked the bearings?
Are your current pads quality ones or cheap ones?
About the clunk noise, have you checked the engine mounts?
Ended up finding the the pads had plenty of meat on the but they were junk. They were crumbling enough that the dust was crummy causing the sound.
I replaced all the mounts and checked all the steering and suspension components. When I feel/hear it, sound like it is coming from the area near the differential. I jacked the car up and had someone shift it while I put my hand on different things and could not narrow it down
The clunking noise may come from the u-joints of the driveshaft. Hold the drive shaft by hand and try to see if you can replicate the noise by moving the u-joints.
There is no U-joint its a front wheel drive vehicle with CV axles
I thought you have awd version.
No front wheel drive
