Hello Scotty Kilmer Community!
My family has a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT that has recently reached 210,000 miles. This vehicle has the original engine and automatic transmission. The transmission has been slipping for some years, but it only does it on random occasions. Some of the creature comforts like the AC are broke and the power steering has gotten a bit notchy lately, but overall it is still a great running vehicle for its age. The vehicle has been driven very lightly and pretty much never goes under heavy acceleration
How much longer does this vehicle have in its life and how is such a mileage possible on a car like this?
Good for you. You already got almost as twice as the lifetime.
Keep baby this car and do what you have done so far. Great job.
we have gotten our money's worth.
You sure did. Congratulations.
But one case doesn't really change anything.
Scotty Kilmer always says that the Dodge Grand Caravan is a bad vehicle, but my household has a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT that we have owned since 2010. We got it with 20,000 miles and it is now approaching 230,000 and still runs decent. This vehicle has the original engine and transmission. We had to do some work on the cooling system prior to 200,000 miles and had to replace a caliper at 210,000. We generally do not have a lot of repairs in a year. The transmission has minor slippage but drives down the road fine. We live in a rural area. Maybe the Caravans weren't so bad of a vehicle? Definitely not the best, but for the price we got it (about $20,000), we have gotten our money's worth.
