2009 Dodge Caravan Oil drip noise back engine

Hi everyone this is my first time posting a question here.

I just put oil in my 2009 Dodge caravan 3.3L engine. I heard a dripping noise seeming to originate from the back of the engine. I checked underneath the vehicle and no oil has dripped out and no oil has been dripping from underneath the vehicle in general.

However it has been consuming a lot of oil. What would be the most likely culprit for this leak? What would be the most likely location that it is leaking from?

  1. Thank you in advance for helping me out here

Please read through all the instructions. We need your odometer reading.

If you don't see a puddle of oil on the ground and it's consuming oil, it means the engine is burning oil, not leaking it.  Get a new PCV valve and hope it helps.

Pray it's just a leaky valve cover and not a bad rear main seal.

did you spill any?

Were you changing the oil or just topping up?

When you pour oil in, it still has a long way to go down into the pan through small passages. Could you have been hearing that?

How much exactly is "a lot"?

What is the oil level on the dipstick?

Have you changed the PCV valve lately?

You didn't provide us your odometer, but the engine could just be worn out.

Dodges aren't known for their longevity and this one is 14 years old

It could be a lot of things, but so far you haven't seen a leak.

I checked underneath the vehicle and no oil has dripped out  ... and no oil has been dripping from underneath the vehicle in general.

Then don't worry about it.
