Hi everyone! My first try here on Scotty's website - I did research before asking the question and I believe it was not asked before.
I have a 2008 6.2L Hummer H2. In 2008 they started using the 6-speed automatic transmission replacing them previous 4-speed.
I have 200k km on my new to me H2.
I noticed a clunk on my transmission at different scenarios:
- After start up when I put it in to gear (D or R);
- When I'm parking and have to go back and forth (D and R).
The car does shift fine when going down the road though.
Was wondering why does the clunk happen at those different scenarios and if this is a bad sign of a transmission giving up.
Most importantly, is there anything cheaper than rebuilding/replacing the transmission I can try?
Thank you all, I appreciate this website 🙂
Have you already checked all your engine & transmission mounts for wear?
I haven't!
Thanks for pointing out, I will look into it.
Before anyone suggests:
- Transmission oil and filter were recently changed;
- Engine oil and filter changed recently too.
